off to the south of france...
When
you stay in a nice hotel, like we do in the UK, moving to another
country could be a let down. In this
case, life just gets better. When we go to the south of France, it is Avignon
that gets our attention. We adore the
high speed train
that takes us from Paris to Avignon and if it took 6 hours, instead of 3
hours, that would be just fine with us. The Avignon
train station is
a spectacular architectural
structure.
Its
actually hard to concentrate on the antiquing with the beauty of another
gorgeous
hotel and the
food. But we fought through it and found many more special
pieces. here is just a glimpse of two of them. A French
grain bin, which we couldn't resist. We thought it would be a
welcome addition to some families kids room, for toys, or a mudroom. If
that wasn't enough, there is a special dealer that we see, when visiting
southern
France, that buys us "zinc top store counters". We virtually bought
everything he had. We have already sold one piece and some special customer
has the opportunity
for this one. It came from a French bank in the south of France and was the
centerpiece of the bank. It is a butter color, with
a zinc inlay top and I will have some trouble parting with it.
